Summer's Passing

This Summer has been hot and dry. It is the last day of August; now Summer is getting thin. Although daytime temperatures can still be high, mornings are growing cooler. Early morning walks feature a pond evaporating its warm water into 50 degree morning air.

The length of our days is now noticeably shorter, with the sun rising at 6:20 AM and setting at 7:34 PM Eastern Time. The rising sun lights our walking path about a minute later each morning and the peaceful sunset arrives just a bit earlier each evening.

The signs are there – the season is changing. There are seasons and times for everything. Now it is time for September and the next season of life. “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven…” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
